For individuals

Coaching gives you dedicated time and space to think clearly about your work, your goals and the challenges you are facing. Rather than telling you what to do, I help you explore your options, build confidence and take practical steps forward.

My coaching is supportive, thoughtful and grounded in my experience of working in marketing and communications. It can help if you want to prepare for promotion, manage challenges more effectively, improve your confidence, rethink your next step or create a better balance between your career and other aspects of your life.

Who I work with

My coaching is for people working in marketing, communications and PR. I work with people at different career stages - from those just establishing themselves or stepping into management, to experienced professionals and senior leaders who want space to think through work, leadership or career challenges.

During my 24-year management career, I line-managed and supported people at many stages of their development. I understand the challenges that can come with finding your voice, taking on more responsibility, leading others, influencing at senior levels, managing pressure, and thinking carefully about your next step.

You do not need to have everything worked out in advance. Some people come to coaching with a clear goal, while others simply know that something needs to change. Part of the coaching process is helping you clarify what matters most, what is getting in the way, and what you want to move towards.

What career coaching can help with

Coaching is led by what you want to explore and achieve. Common topics include high workload, career direction, preparing for an interview or appraisal, being heard more effectively by senior leaders, handling difficult conversations, stepping into management, and protecting your mental wellbeing at work.

As a qualified life coach, I can also support you with wider personal goals if they feel relevant to the work we are doing together.

How coaching works

Coaching helps you think things through and find your own answers. I use questions and a clear structure to help you make progress in a way that feels right for you. It is different from mentoring which involves sharing advice or suggestions based on professional experience. My work is mainly coaching, although I may share relevant tools and insight drawn from my career in marketing and communications where it is useful and appropriate.

Coaching is not therapy or counselling which often explore past experiences and emotional healing. Coaching is focused mainly on the present and future. It helps you make decisions and take actions to move forwards and achieve your goals.

Sessions, location and availability

My coaching sessions usually last around 60 minutes. Most sessions take place online via Teams. If you would prefer in-person coaching, that may also be possible although if you are not local to Fleet in Hampshire, I would need to charge extra for travel time and expenses.

I offer appointments at different times during the working week including during the day and in the evening. I also have time available on some Saturdays. Once we start working together, you will be able to book sessions through my online calendar up to three months in advance.

Confidentiality

Coaching provides a safe and confidential space for discussion. I am bound by the Association for Coaching’s Code of Ethics. Before we begin, I will explain the small number of exceptional circumstances in which confidentiality could not be maintained, such as where there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, or discussions about illegal activity.

If your organisation is funding your coaching, there may sometimes be an initial three-way conversation involving you, your line manager and myself to agree the broad focus of the coaching. This would only happen if you or your line manager agreed to it. What we discuss in coaching sessions remains confidential and I do not provide reports on your sessions to your manager or employer.

You can also read my privacy notice.

Programmes, fees and payment

My standard rate is £80 per session. Many clients choose the Coaching for Comms 90-Day Focus Programme which includes six sessions for £420 (the equivalent of £70 per session). You can also book individual sessions if you want focused support around a specific challenge, event or decision.

Some clients pay for coaching themselves, while others use their organisation’s training or professional development budget. Because my coaching is tailored specifically to people working in marketing, communications and public relations, it can be a relevant form of continuing professional development.

Payment is by bank transfer. For individual sessions, I ask for payment at least 24 hours before the session. If you choose the 90-Day Focus Programme, you can either pay the full £420 before the first session, spread the cost over three monthly instalments of £140, or pay for each session in advance.

Rescheduling sessions

You can reschedule sessions using my online booking calendar. I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or rearrange. I reserve the right to charge for missed sessions or cancellations made less than 24 hours before the scheduled start time. I will always send you a reminder a few days before your session.

Exploratory telephone call and next steps

Finding the right coach matters. The best way to decide whether coaching with me is right for you is through a free, no-obligation exploratory telephone call. It is a chance for you to tell me a little about what you are looking for, ask any questions you may have, and get a feel for how I work. There is no pressure to sign up afterwards.

Depending on my availability, we can usually begin coaching within a few days or weeks after the call.
